HOPE FOR TOMORROW - TOIVOA HUOMISEEN
CHRISTMAS OFFERING 2004

Hope for Tomorrow - Toivoa huomiseen is an international and interdenominational organization founded in Finland which engages in missionary work and development aid. The organization's aim is to distribute social, educational, health related and spiritual aid. Aid is directed especially at those suffering from HIV/AIDS, orphaned children and youths with no one to support them, as well as single mothers.

Hope for Tomorrow - Toivoa huomiseen operates outside Finland in cooperation with local organizations. This collection is carried out for the benefit of the Camp David Centre, a centre for HIV/AIDS home treatment and study sponsorship in Mombasa, Kenya. The Centre, located in a squatter settlement, is in the early stages of its life and needs support to be able to continue and develop its operations. As its operations become established the Centre will increasingly begin to rely on local financial support.

The Camp David Centre is currently actively focusing on two operations at the Mombasa squatter settlement:
- supporting poor families suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic
- organizing study sponsorship for orphaned and underprivileged children and youths

Adequate food is an essential part of the treatment of those infected with HIV/AIDS or suffering from contagious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis as a result of an HIV/AIDS infection. Because the availability of free medication has increased, thanks to the state of Kenya and aid organizations, the Camp David Centre gives food aid and nutritional information to the inhabitants of the squatter settlement. Every week the Centre gives the neediest families a food aid package consisting of corn flour, sugar and vegetable oil. The Centre's vegetable plot produces a fresh crop twice a year for the needs of both squatters and the Centre itself. A warm meal is offered every weekday at the Centre for women in the HIV/AIDS support group, sponsored students in the nearby schools and the Centre's volunteers.

The purpose of this Hope for Tomorrow Christmas Offering is to secure the Camp David Centre's operations for one year and also to support new orphans and mothers struggling with HIV/AIDS and/or poverty.
