Kisumu, Kenya
Hope for tomorrow’s newest project
Mark of Joy –kindergarten is located in Kisumu, near the
border of Kenya and Uganda. God put a calling to help
poor kids and families in Kenya on Outi Välimaa’s heart
through Bishop Mark Kegohi and his wife on Outi’s first
trip to Kenya in 2002. That time Bishop Mark prayed: “Let this
vision grow and be born healthy.” Seven years later Hope
for Tomorrow had the privilege to start working with Redeemed
Gospel church in Kisumu. Mark of Joy –kindergarten is
their first project together.
An excerpt of Outi’s letter from
her trip during the foundation of the kindergarten: “I
wondered what God had for us in the city of Kisumu.
I had waited for seven years to be able to go back
and meet the Bishop and his wife, through whom God
gave me a vision for helping women and children on
my first trip to Kenya. When we sat in their living
room in December 2009, I suddenly remembered a dream
from three years ago, where God had said that I was
to build schools! When I told about this dream, Bishop
Mark said: “This is a confirmation from God, we will
do it together!” The very same day we went to see
a building on a poor Muslim area, where the kindergarten,
supported by Bishop Mark’s congregation and Hope for
Tomorrow was to be opened. The first school has been
built!”
Mark of Joy –kindergarten is
located in a poor Kibosh-neighborhood. A water treatment
plant and a kitchen have been planned to be built
by the well on the grounds for feeding the kids.
