Domestic Work
1. Visitor from Kenya
Teacher Catherine Obwogo was a guest of Hope for
Tomorrow in Finland during June-July 2004. Catherine
has helped to make our work known. During her
visit, 16 different events were held in southern
and central Finland. Catherine also spent a week
of her visit in St. Petersburg and a week in Sweden.
2. Hope for Tomorrow's
goal for 2004-2005 was increased communications.
-During the year, a beautiful,
four color brochure about the organization and
its work was published. It is possible to commit
to supporting the organization using the feedback
form attached to the brochure.
-During the year, the organization's Internet
pages were published first in Finnish, then in
English.
-A half-hour TV show about the organization's
work was filmed in the summer of 2004 and broadcast
on TV7 twice.
-Three articles were published about the organization's
work (Oriveden Sanomat newspaper, Uusi Elämä magazine,
Näky magazine).
-The organization's newsletters were published
six times during the year.
-The organization printed its own envelope, sticker
and two different types of bookmarks.
3. Fund-raising campaign
The organization arranged a fund-raising campaign for Camp
David's slum work in Kenya. The campaign was
organized during November 1, 2004- June 13, 2005.
The goal for the campaign was 10 000 euros.
The goal was exceeded.
The organization's fund-raising
has doubled during the year comparing to last
year. In May 2005, the organization's newsletter
was sent to 219 partners, of which 61 had committed
to regular monthly support and the rest to occasional
support.
Other fund-raising during
the year has been arranged by selling wooden animals
from Kenya, a CD made in Finland by Hope for Tomorrow
(out of a cassette tape made by a Tanzanian group)
and, as the newest items, HfT stickers and bookmarks.
4. More volunteers
During the year, Miia Määttä began to volunteer
as Hope for Tomorrow's contact person for school
children supporters and Tuomas (Tatu) Välimaa
began volunteering as the organization's media
contact person. Tatu is responsible for the Internet
page maintenance as well as planning the organization's
newsletter and other material that is published
or contains pictures.
5. Foreign Ministry development
cooperation aid
Hope for Tomorrow was granted the Foreign Ministry's
development cooperation support for the purpose
of communications. 5000e was granted for a filming
trip to Kenya and for school visits in Finland
during 2005. The cameraman for Spring 2005 was
Vesa Silvennoinen.
The application for vocational
schooling support in 2005-2007 was not approved.
Hope for Tomorrow is applying
for more support from the Foreign Ministry for
the Camp David Centre's workshops and to reinforce
the Kenyan cooperation partner's capacity for
2006-2008.
Work Abroad
1. Sponsorship and other support
Kenya
Hope for Tomorrow continues to support the Camp
David slum work center in Mombasa, Kenya. Sponsorship
for school children and families suffering from
HIV/AIDS has gotten off to a good start. Hope
for Tomorrow aims to develop workshop-type vocational
training for the center with the support that
will hopefully be received from the Foreign Ministry.
From the beginning of 2005, the center has also
maintained a day care center for children in the
slum. Hope for Tomorrow assisted in constructing
a simple shelter for day care center events in
the Camp David Centre's yard.
From the beginning of 2005,
Hope for Tomorrow began sponsoring the rural area
of Muranga, Kenya. Hope for Tomorrow supports
poor families in Muranga.
Hope for Tomorrow continues
to sponsor the work of Pia Lindt and Kirsi Nyrhinen
in Kenya.

Hope for Tomorrow supports the start-up of the
Miri Moriani children's home. During the year,
Pastor Kazoura's children's home in Rama was given
a one-time financial gift.
