Heikki's and Maria's greetings
from Mombasa
December 27, 2004
After the conference and
parent's visit, Christmas vacation has been spent
travelling. First, we were in Nairobi for 3 days,
from where we continued to Kisumu to visit an
Indian family. From there, we travelled on to
Kisii to see a classmate's family. It was wonderful
to come to a Christian home after being in a Hindu
home, which was filled with pictures of Hindu
gods. The atmosphere was very different. We also
went to church in Kisii.
Now we are on our way back
and are just passing the huge tea farms of Kericho.
The trip has been great even though Heikki has
been sick the whole time. He is now recuperating.
We have seen things like overturned trucks, crazy
bus drivers, beautiful scenery, giraffes, zebras,
corrupt officials, mountains, valleys, the rainforest,
Lake Victoria, families, we have eaten Indian
and African food etc. So God has allowed us to
experience many things, much of it spiritual as
well. For example, we have met a pastor, who has
established many churches, and a Finnish missionary.
The bus ride to Mombasa
takes about 15 hours, so I think I am going to
take my Bible out. In the bus there are, for example,
fish and chicken, so the smell is interesting.
Trust God because only He can keep us safe from
all harm (this has become very clear during this
trip).
Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year! H and M
