Mikko in Mombasa
February 5, 2006
When I saw the pastors,
spiritual leaders, and missionaries group move
up on the platform I decided to wait for my place
among the groups to follow. Businessmen, lawyers,
doctors. didn't feel like the right group. Employees,
such as teachers, nurses, accountants, move to
the rows of benches in the middle. Must be my
group, I thought, and after sitting for a while
started moving toward the back of the rows of
benches in the middle.
The splitting into groups
continued. Self-employed. Church employees. Students.
As the movement of people in the tent settled,
my group was being split more precisely. Teachers,
nurses, social workers, to those benches. Bankers,
accountants, managers, administrators. I decided
coordinators fit in this group, which was being
directed to the rows of benches where I was already
seated. Secretaries, assistants.
The Jesus Celebration Centre
is preparing to bring to an end the first phase,
building the roof, of the new sanctuary. As of
now, 90 million Kenyan shillings (over a million
euros) have already been paid, the target is to
collect another 40 million shillings (about half
a million euros) by April 8th. That leaves 8 weeks
of time. The target for the bankers, accountants,
managers, administrators, and coordinators group
was set at 1.2 million shillings. (about 15000
euros)
