Mikko in Mombasa
April 8, 2005
Friday.
I came to the Kwahola netcafé,
which is just a walk from Camp David, to transfer
some digital photos to a CD. They don't serve
coffee here, much less anything else to eat or
drink, but computers are available to use and
the internet connection works.
The person who works here
started the process while I sat down with my notebook
to make plans for the seminar. The first upload
was interrupted by a power failure - the electricity
went out before the pictures were saved on the
hard disc. The UPS power source beeped for a few
minutes until its power went out as well. The
electricity came back pretty soon and the second
upload was already up to 93%, when the electricity
went out once again. The UPS beeped for the last
time, and when the power came back the CD was
ruined. But the third time was a success; the
pictures are now on CD. I have to close this diary
before the power goes out again...
