Mikko in Mombasa

Our plans to have a Community Day event at Camp David Centre this Saturday were boosted during the week as we received the go-ahead from the Nairobi NACC office to implement our revised workplan and thus utilize a portion of their funding for the event.

The Community Day included praise and song from Camp David Youth and Jitokezee Support Group, speeches by various invited guests on topics ranging from HIV/AIDS to drug abuse, and food in the form of pilau, juice, and fruit for over 400 community members present. Most of all, we wanted to give thanks to God for the blessings of the year 2005.

As the events of the day went on outside, the Määttä family ladies visiting us from Finland took the chance to discuss the importance of performing well in school with a student they are sponsoring through Hope for Tomorrow and Camp David Centre.
