Mikko in Mombasa
February 27, 2005
Hello diary! Here I am!
It seems like a while since
I've last written something - at least it feels
like it. Things at Camp David Centre are still
running: there are those who get support, there
are those who are still looking for support, book-keeping,
correspondence, the making of soap, having meetings
and discussions, taking walks, home visits...
and the like.
The Hope For Tomorrow family
here in Mombasa has increased by two members as
Mari and Elina, two Finnish students studying
the practice of nursing, arrived here some two
weeks ago. They will be in Camp David in Chaani
for four weeks and another four in the Zion clinic
in Mtwapa, but in between they will probably have
a few days off as well. We pray that they will
be blessed coming in and blessed going out!
Last Sunday JCC Bamburi
had a guest speaker, a pastor from Alton Beech,
Boston. Originally from Jamaica, he testified
to having been in jail for a number of times for
drug trafficking, and having suicidal tendencies
before God transformed his life.
Now he's a pastor in Boston,
U.S.A. and helps feed the poor in the slums of
Kenya. He began his message with the Scripture
from Ephesians 3:19-20 (NKJV) "...To know
the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that
you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the
power that works in us..."
He expressed his gratitude
to the Africans for the intense way they praise
and worship the Lord. Then he exhorted the congregation
to hold on to big dreams, dreams that will get
them out of the slums, out of their problems on
onwards with life!
