Travel
greetings from Africa. My son Heikki and my daughter-in-law
Maria are both studying at the Bible school in
Mombasa, Kenya. When I heard about the trip to
Kenya, I was eager to go along.
The trip was fascinating.
I attended a large religious conference, visited
the impoverished areas on the outskirts of Mombasa,
and met many people in need. I also took part
in the activity-day at Camp David. Additionally,
I took a trip to a safari and a wildlife park,
where I witnessed Africa's beautiful scenery and
its magnificent animals. A swim in the Indian
Ocean and some shopping at the city's bazaars
were also significant highlights. I heard, saw
and experienced many new things. As an analogy,
I compare myself to a large bowl that has been
filled to its utmost with experiences, and now
I taste small spoonfuls to process and cherish
the memories.
I am very happy that I
gathered up the courage to go on this fantastic
journey. If you are planning a trip to Mombasa,
I encourage you to take with you and open minded,
positive attitude. It will help you see and understand
what is happening around you.
A very big thank you to
the organizer of this trip, Outi Välimaa, and
to our tour guide, Mikko Välimaa. I strongly felt
that a blessing and many prayers were with me
on the trip.
